How to Avoid Motion Sickness

Motion sickness can negatively impact every trip you take, but if you know how to deal with it and prevent it, traveling won't seem so daunting.

Motion sickness happens because your inner ear, eyes, and other motion detectors send messages to your brain that are somewhat conflicting. This can cause debilitating nausea.

Thankfully, there are a number of ways to prevent motion sickness. One of the most common is by taking Dramamine before a boat trip or long car ride. For those who don't care to take drugs, peppermint and ginger are herbal remedies that have been known to ease nausea symptoms.

Eating before traveling or while traveling also helps to ease nausea symptoms. Sleeping while you travel on a bus or in a car is also a good way to avoid motion sickness. Sleeping helps to reset your inner ear and help your brain get used to the motion your body is experiencing.

Motion sickness is certainly no fun, but thankfully, there are ways to prevent it. If these options don't work for you, one of the best ways to prevent motion sickness is to avoid the situations that cause it.
